The Arizona Bowl Company has been creating beautiful Indian-styled wooden bowls since 1994. Most of the bowls created by the Arizona Bowl Company are based upon a centuries-old technique known as stave-bowl construction. For those of you that have ever sectioned an orange you can begin to appreciate the theory behind stave construction. Each stave or section, when cut to exacting standards fits neatly next to an adjacent piece. When each stave or piece is joined together they form a multi-sided ring. When this ring is turned on a lathe it becomes the wall of a bowl. |

Although stave-bowl construction is more time consuming and complicated than turning a bowl out of a sold piece of wood it has creative advantages. Stave construction allows the artist the flexibility to create almost any design using woods of various color, grain, and texture. Stave construction also allows the artist to display only the beautiful face grain of the wood on the finished project.
The bowls featured in the following collections and series represent just small sampling of the bowls that are available at the Arizona Bowl Company. All of the bowls reflect a strong Indian or southwest flair and would make an excellent accent piece for any home décor.
